Freedom from Depths

As snow falls and winter tales become the comfort of night
So does a gentle awakening arise
That of pain and sometimes anguish
Like Shelley's Frankenstein abandoned to live frightened and alone
As layers reveal themselves
Creatures of the night come to life
Taming her demons she calms their frightened souls
Depths of sadness reach into unfathomable abyss
Yet in darkness he catches her
The forbidden and abandoned creature
Monstrous and unsightly to immature eyes and minds
Yet with his wisdom she pulls herself back from her destructive depths
A forgotten Persephone captured by a selfish Hades
The wise one guides her back to her own meadow
Where now, her blue eyes adjusted to see in the darkness
Are able with his words, to see her own light fantastic
A spectrum of colours, a new kaleidoscope
Tentatively she steps forward embracing this white light
Still feeling the enormity of fright
But gently with his protective guidance
She lights her own fire and blazes her own trail
Soon sensing her own freedom and delight
